We are not taking events and are keeping up with the extra ADP data being generated, with the SSR reaching 0% on the final passes.
We are taking a lot of SAS data, with memory fill in the tens of percents.

There was a read error on Friday night during the acquisition of ADP data. This was reset and is behaving normally now.

Following the Over Current Trip (at 2012-017-06:32:36 UTC) shutting down the cryocooler, an investigation and brainstorm led to the conclusion that there was in fact, no over current issues with the cryocooler and it was deemed safe to turn on. This was successfully done on 2012/019 02:29:17 UT with the OC trip turned off. It was decided to leave the OC trips off for the remainder of the anneal as 1. They have been off since the last cryocooler anomoly in March 2010 and 2. The detectors have been annealed before with the OC trips turned off. Following the turning on of the cryocooler, the heaters were incrementally turned on to a set point of 50 C followed by 94 C over the next two days. We are now in full anneal mode, with the temperatures holding steady.
The passive cooldown began on schedule Monday, and the cryostat is cooling appropriately. The latest numbers as of Feb. 1's first pass are:

Cryocooler Power  20.861 W

Cryocooler Current  0.850 A

Accelerometer Average  10.758 mg

Cold Tip Temperature 1  234.616 K

Cold Tip Temperature 2  232.105 K

Latest numbers as of final pass on 25 Jan 2012
Cold Plate Temperature 1  315.341 K

Cryo Power:  21.9 W
Cold Plate Temperature 2 312.579 K
avg accel:  11.8 mG
Cold Plate 1:  372.5 K
Cold Plate 2:  369.1 K
Cold Tip 1:  271.8 K
Cold Tip 2:  268.8 K
Thermal Shield:  329.9 K

Cooldown will begin on Monday 1/30 with the first pass around 1900UT. During this pass, the heaters will be turned off and the detectors will be allowed to cool slowly until a temperature of 190K is reached.
Power will be increased on the cooldown sequence some time towards the end of this week.

Solar Activity

  • RHESSI CONTINUES ANNEALING THIS WEEK

Solar activity was low, but alas the first X-class flare of 2012 did occur. Very fortunately, (a) we were in shadow, and (b) Fermi did not see BGO events.

How many GOES flares occurred?

Flares above B, C, M, X class were 2 17 0 1

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

Flares above B, C, M, X class were 0 0 0 0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

Flares above B, C, M, X class were 0 0 0 0

There were 0/20 RHESSI flares/GOES flares over the time range 26-Jan-12 01-Feb-12. GOES is surging ahead!
