Solar Activity

How many GOES flares occurred?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were      9     9     1     0

And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were      6     5     0     0

And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?

 Flares above B, C, M, X class were      3     3     0     0

There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 121 / 19 over the time range 16-Mar-11 23-Mar-11

Solar activity level is medium. Currently 4 AR's on the disk, two of which will rotate of the western limb in the next couple of days. AR 11176, currently on the eastern limb is the most active having produced an M class flare within the last 48 hours. STEREO B shows a large AR due to rotate onto the disk within the next few days.

Memory Management

SSR fill level this week has been between 0-30%. Spacecraft was in active/vigorous decimation and event data was taken for 4 minutes at the start and end of RHESSI night.

Data Gaps

Due to technical issues at Wallops we lost a few passes around the 22nd/23rd March. It is possible that issues with Wallops passes are responsible for a number of bad data packets. Spikes were observed in monitor rates for all detectors both front and rear, Jim will check to see if these are the result of bad data packets.

RHESSI Operations

Detector 9 LLD (rear) was lowered to FF and the HV was lowered by 30 steps on the 16th March. Detector 6 HV was lowered by 6 steps on March 22nd at 20.51UT. We will change from active/vigorous to normal/vigorous decimation in the coming week.
