Solar Activity
This week's solar activity continued to be moderate. There were primarily C class flares, with one M class and few B class. The most active region is on the eastern limb and has contributed 8 C flares within the past few days. Max Millenium predicts the C flares to continue in the next week, with no significant chance for larger flares. We remain in Active/Vigorous decimation. The SSR was emptying to zero at the beginning of the week, but hasn't been emptying recently due to a lot of playbacks.
During the ops meeting the issue of rising detector temperatures was discussed with Stuart Banks and Rob Boyle from Goddard SFC. Considering the approximate 1 degree temperature rise, it is anticipated that RHESSI detectors will reach critical temperatures within the year. It was decided to wait for further action until the detectors reach critical temperatures. At that time, the strategy will likely be to turn off and restart the cryocoolers. This week saw the temperatures of cryocooler 1 and 2 drop from marginal levels of 106C and 105C to 104.5C and 103.2C.

The SSR was emptying after each pass in the beginning of the week. Now, due to replay, it is remaining filled to ~12%.

There was a 20-minute gap to monitor rates on August 6, 2012.
Detector issues
Detector 2 continues to show higher rates due to the light leak and detector 8 still has higher rates coming out of the SAA. Since these issues have not been affecting the SSR fill rate, we continue to take no action. This decision was made last week.
