Solar Activity
Solar activity this week was very high with 4 X class flares and 5 M class flares. The X class flares were produced by AR 11748 as it was rotating onto the limb.
How many GOES flares occurred?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 2 50 5 4
And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 2 33 4 3
And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 1 15 1 2
There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 347 / 61 over the time range 08-May-13 15-May-13
Memory Management
SSR reached a max of ~60% this week due to the increase in solar activity. 7 extra Weilheim passes were added to handle the increased data rate. The decimation state was changed to active/vigorous and rear events turned off during night (except 4 mins at the start and end of eclipse) on 13-may-2013. by the end of the pass set last night the SSR was ~28%.
Spacecraft Status
There was a spin up on 8-may-2013.
Cold plate plate 1 is now 115.5 K.
Further attempts to rebalance the cryocooler we made on passes between 8-may-2013 and 10-may-2013. An exploration of the balancer amplitude and phase space was carried out, changing both parameters simultaneously by one step at a time. A region of low vibrations was found where the accelerometer was reading ~14 mg. Further fine tuning was postponed due to the increase in solar activity but will resume during a quieter time.
Data Gaps
There were no data gaps this week.
Detector issues
Detector 9 showed only one "dropouts"/noise:
- May 11: 20:24
Other notes
The rebalancing of the cryocooler will this week is the solar activity diminishes.
