Solar Activity
The Sun was fairly active and region 12665 produced a series of flares. In particular, 2017-07-14, a long duration M-class flare has been observed where RHESSI covered most of the impulsive phase including the peak.
TIME RANGE:12-Jul-17 00:00:00.000 -- 19-Jul-17 00:00:00.000 Flares above B, C, M, X class were 31 24 1 0
How many GOES flares occurred?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 31 24 1 0
And how many of these are listed in the RHESSI flare list?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 16 11 1 0
And how many had EXCELLENT coverage?
Flares above B, C, M, X class were 12 4 0 0
There were RHESSI flares/GOES flares 120 / 56 over the time range 12-Jul-17 19-Jul-17
Memory Management
Decimation was active/vigorous for the full time period, with the SSR level currently at around 30%.
Spacecraft Status
Detectors 1, 3, 6, and 8 are recording events. The cold tips are about 128K as of July 19, and cold plates are at about 153K. Cryocooler power is steady at 75.6W, for recent tmperatures, cryocooler efficiencies, and accelerometer values see:
http://sprg.ssl.berkeley.edu/~ayshih/soh/latest_temperatures.pdf
The longer daylight of the current orbits caused the batteries to be on the limit of overcharging. Ops is observing if the battery pressure is crossing the 7000kPa limit and whether the temperatures are spiking towards the end of the daylight portion of the orbit.
Data Gaps
None known.
Detector issues
Detectors 1, 3, 6, and 8 are powered on, and are recording events. No detector operations this week.
Due to the increase sun fraction, the detector temperature came down. This also caused a lower deadtime for detector 3 which allowed a lowering of the attenuator thresholds.
Det. 1R reset are currently at about 40'000.
With the decreasing sun fraction, the temperatures will likely rise again and the future Tohban will have to watch Det. 3F livetime and Det. 1R reset rates.
Notes
On 2017-194-19:50:11 UTC (July 13, 2017), the attenuator thresholds were changed, to reflect a new background of 17.1% deadtime.
